The Committee for Protecting Rights of Prisoners (CPRP) marks with great pride the awarding of the “2026 Per Anger” International Prize to Mr. Brito Fernando. This prestigious recognition honors his distinguished and relentless service over many years in seeking justice for victims of enforced disappearances and those who lost their lives due to torture while in custody.
Mr. Brito Fernando played a leading role in the advocacy for the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance Act, No. 5 of 2018, ensuring legal redress for victims within Sri Lanka’s human rights framework. His active intervention has significantly strengthened the legal foundation upon which our organization stands in defending the rights of prisoners.
This international recognition is of paramount importance to our organization and the broader human rights community. It reinforces global and local attention on state accountability regarding human rights violations and custodial deaths, ensuring these issues remain at the forefront of the justice discourse.

බලහත්කාරයෙන් අතුරුදහන් කරවීම්වලට ලක් වූවන් සහ අත්අඩංගුවේදී වධහිංසාවට පත්ව මියගිය වින්දිතයන් වෙනුවෙන් යුක්තිය ඉටුකිරීම උදෙසා බ්රිටෝ ප්රනාන්දු මහතා වසර ගණනාවක් තිස්සේ ඉටුකළ විශිෂ්ඨ මෙහෙවර ඇගයීමට ලක්කරමින් පිරිනමනු ලබන “2026 Per Anger” ජාත්යන්තර සම්මානයෙන් එතුමා පිදුම් ලැබීම සිරකරු අයිතිවාසිකම් සුරැකීමේ කමිටුව (CPRP) මහත් අභිමානයෙන් යුතුව සනිටුහන් කරයි.
ශ්රී ලංකාවේ මානව හිමිකම් සුරැකීමේ ක්රියාවලිය තුළ 2018 අංක 5 දරන බලහත්කාරයෙන් අතුරුදහන් කිරීම්වලින් ආරක්ෂා වීමේ පනත සම්මත කරවා ගැනීමටත්, එමඟින් වින්දිතයන් උදෙසා නීතිමය පිළිසරණක් ලබාදීමටත් බ්රිටෝ ප්රනාන්දු මහතා ප්රමුඛ පෙළේ කාර්යභාරයක් ඉටු කළේය. එම මැදිහත්වීම සිරකරු අයිතිවාසිකම් වෙනුවෙන් අප සංවිධානය පෙනී සිටින මූලික නීතිමය පදනම තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට සමත්ව තිබේ.
