A special event organized by the Committee for Protecting Rights of Prisoners (CPRP) was held yesterday (October 22, 2025) at the Maradana CSR.
Under the theme “Urgently provide the benefits and reliefs afforded to death row prisoners and liferst”, this program was conducted with the participation of a large number of relatives of prisoners who have been sentenced to death or are serving life imprisonment.
During the event, there was an extensive discussion about the difficulties faced by these prisoners due to not receiving the reliefs and privileges properly entitled to them under the law. In particular, the urgent need to ensure their human rights and opportunities for rehabilitation was strongly emphasized.
The relatives who participated in this discussion, with the aim of working steadily and organizationally in the future to protect prisoners’ rights and secure the benefits they are entitled to, came together and established a new front.
Through this new front, it is expected to continuously engage in activities such as holding discussions with the government and prison authorities, carrying out legal interventions, and providing necessary support to the families of prisoners going forward.
සිරකරු අයිතිවාසිකම් සුරැකීමේ කමිටුව (CPRP) විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද විශේෂ වැඩසටහනක් ඊයේ (2025 ඔක්තෝබර් 22) මරදාන CSR ශාලාවේදී පැවැත්වුණි.
“මරණ දඬුවම නියම වූ සහ ජීවිතාන්තය දක්වා සිර දඬුවම් ලත් රැඳවියන්ට හිමි ප්රතිලාභ සහ සහන කඩිනමින් ලබා දෙන්න” යන තේමාව යටතේ පැවති මෙම වැඩසටහන,මරණ දඬුවම සහ ජීවිතාන්තය දක්වා සිර දඬුවම් ලත් රැඳවියන්ගේ ඥාතීන්ගේ විශාල පිරිසකගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් පැවැත්විය.
එහි දී, මරණ දඬුවම නියම වී සහ ජීවිතාන්තය දක්වා සිර දඬුවම් විඳින සිරකරුවන්ට නීතියෙන් හිමිවන සහන සහ වරප්රසාද නිසි පරිදි නොලැබීම හේතුවෙන් ඔවුන් මුහුණ දෙන අසීරුතා පිළිබඳව දීර්ඝ වශයෙන් සාකච්ඡා විය. විශේෂයෙන්ම, ඔවුන්ගේ මානුෂීය අයිතිවාසිකම් සහ පුනරුත්ථාපන අවස්ථා කඩිනමින් තහවුරු කිරීමේ අවශ්යතාව මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කෙරිණි.
සිරකරුවන්ගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් සුරැකීම සහ ඔවුන්ට හිමි ප්රතිලාභ ලබා ගැනීම සඳහා ඉදිරියේදී ස්ථිරව හා සංවිධානාත්මකව කටයුතු කිරීමේ අරමුණින් මෙම සාකච්ඡාවට සහභාගී වූ ඥාතීන් එක්වී පෙරමුන පිහිටුවා ගැනීමට ද කටයුතු කළේය.
මෙම නව පෙරමුන මඟින්, මින් ඉදිරියට රජය සහ බන්ධනාගාර බලධාරීන් සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කිරිම , නීතිමය මැදිහත්වීම් සිදු කිරීමට සහ සිරකරුවන්ගේ පවුල්වලට අවශ්ය සහය ලබා දීම වැනි ක්රියාකාරකම් වල අඛණ්ඩව නියැලීමට සිදු කිරීමට අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.
