When the case regarding the unfortunate incident at the Negombo Prison was called before the court again, the parents, wives, children, and other relatives of the deceased inmates, along with the Committee for Protecting Rights of Prisoners (CPRP), collectively expressed their views on the investigations. Their primary demand was to conduct an impartial and transparent investigation into this incident immediately.
Mr. Sudesh Nandimal Silva, the Convener of the Committee for Protecting Rights of Prisoners, stated the importance of the law being implemented equally for everyone in such situations that arise within prisons. Furthermore, he pointed out that the authorities must pay strict attention to the discrepancy between the initial media reports regarding the removal of firearms from the prison in relation to the incident, and the newly revealed information concerning over 30 firearms.
The committee also emphasized the necessity of conducting a formal investigation into the shootings that caused the deaths of the inmates. In particular, CPRP representatives stated that they expect a more impartial approach when taking legal action regarding the shootings allegedly carried out through the small window of the prison gate and the parties involved in it.
A large crowd, including the parents, siblings, wives, and children of the deceased inmates, participated in this occasion. Speaking to the media, a mother of a deceased inmate recalled that the deceased, including her children, were not involved in serious crimes but were held for minor offenses. They earnestly requested the President and the relevant authorities to conduct the investigations properly and serve justice for the loss of their children and relatives.
The Committee for Protecting Rights of Prisoners (CPRP) further emphasizes that it is the responsibility of the relevant institutions to ensure the safety of the lives of imprisoned individuals, act impartially regarding such incidents, and uphold the rule of law.

රැඳවියන් මියයාමට හේතු වූ වෙඩි තැබීම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් විධිමත් විමර්ශනයක් සිදු කිරීමේ අවශ්යතාවයද කමිටුව විසින් මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කරන ලදී. විශේෂයෙන්ම බන්ධනාගාර ගේට්ටුවේ කුඩා කවුළුවෙන් සිදු කළ බව කියන වෙඩි තැබීම් සහ ඊට සම්බන්ධ පාර්ශ්වයන් පිළිබඳව නීතිමය පියවර ගැනීමේදී මීට වඩා අපක්ෂපාතී ක්රියාමාර්ගයක් අපේක්ෂා කරන බව CPRP නියෝජිතයෝ සඳහන් කළහ.
