We, the Committee for Protecting Rights of Prisoners (CPRP), recently visited the Jaffna Prison and engaged in a special discussion with its officials
During the meeting, the prison officials explained the current internal conditions, the challenges faced by the inmates, and the existing shortcomings, supported by photographs.
Furthermore, a remarkable sense of order and discipline was observed upon entering the prison premises. It is also commendable that opportunities have been provided for the inmates to follow short-term vocational training courses in collaboration with NAITA to secure their future.
සිරකරු අයිතිවාසිකම් සුරැකීමේ කමිටුව වන අප, පසුගියදා යාපනය බන්ධනාගාරය වෙත ගොස් එහි නිලධාරීන් සමඟ විශේෂ සාකච්ඡාවක නිරත වීය.
එහිදී බන්ධනාගාරය තුළ දැනට පවතින අභ්යන්තර තත්ත්වය, රැඳවියන් මුහුණ දෙන දුෂ්කරතා සහ එහි ඇති අඩුපාඩුකම් පිළිබඳව බන්ධනාගාර නිලධාරීන් විසින් ඡායාරූප ද සහිතව අප වෙත පැහැදිලි කර දෙන ලදී.
එමෙන්ම බන්ධනාගාරය තුළට ඇතුළු වීමේදී එහි මනා පිළිවෙළක් දැකගත හැකි වූ අතර, රැඳවියන්ගේ අනාගතය වෙනුවෙන් NAITA ආයතනය සමඟ එක්ව කෙටි කාලීන වෘත්තීය පාඨමාලා හැදෑරීමට ද එහි අවස්ථාව සලසා දී තිබීම අගය කළ යුතුය.
